basic is designed with a simple, non-negotiable philosophy: the frame is the interface, and your data is none of our business.

1. Zero Data Collection & Transmission

We do not collect, monitor, store, or transmit your personal data. basic operates 100% offline.

  • No Accounts: You do not need to register, sign in, or provide an email address to use the app.
  • No Analytics: We use no tracking code, third-party analytics SDKs, or cookies. We have no mechanism to track how often you launch the app, what exposure settings you select, or which lenses you shoot with.
  • No Server Transfers: Your images are processed entirely on-device using local system APIs (AVFoundation and PhotoKit). No pixels, files, or telemetry are ever uploaded to our servers or shared with any third party.

2. Device Access & System Permissions

To capture and save photos, the app requires standard Apple iOS system permissions. You maintain full control over these permissions:

  • Camera Permission: Required to render the live viewfinder and capture JPEG photographs.
  • Photo Library (PhotoKit) Permission: Used to save finished JPEGs and to show thumbnails of recent captures stored in your library.
  • Location Services (Optional): When granted, GPS coordinates are embedded in EXIF metadata of saved JPEGs. We do not store or transmit your location.

3. Payments & Transaction Data

App purchases and upgrades are processed securely and directly by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment details, billing information, or billing address. All transactions are governed by Apple's App Store Privacy Policy.

4. Legacy Content & Data Portability

Since basic writes directly to your Apple Photo Library (using standard iOS system directories and PhotoKit structures), any photo you shoot is preserved as a native asset on your device.

  • No Cloud Locking: Your photographs are not locked in a proprietary cloud. JPEGs are stored in your Photos library on device (and iCloud Photos if you use it).
  • Data Preservation: If you delete basic, photographs remain in Photos. Use Recent → Erase all basic data to clear the app's local index and preferences.

5. GDPR, CCPA, and Global Compliance

Because we do not collect, process, or store any personal data, basic is inherently compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other worldwide data privacy frameworks. You cannot exercise "right to be forgotten" requests because we possess no data to forget.
